“Bambi: The Reckoning” Horror Film Coming

Horror takes on a children’s classics “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and “Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare” haven’t even released yet. But their creators want to snap up another classic made popular by Disney. “Bambi,” the little Prince of the Forest deer, is getting a horror movie of his very own. This will be a sight different from the children’s novel written by Felix Salten in 1928.

Get ready for “Bambi: The Reckoning.” Scott Jeffrey will be heading up the project, accompanied by producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield. Frake-Waterfield is the director responsible for turning precious Pooh Bear and his friends into murderous killers in “Blood and Honey.”

Get ready for the makeover of a lifetime, little guy

There’s no official information as to the plot of the film. But with a title like that, you can expect a vengeance angle. More than likely involving the hunter responsible for murdering Bambi’s mother. Or perhaps against any and all hunters that grace his woods. What we have received is a little tidbit of how the little faun’s going to be transformed for horror.

“The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s ‘The Ritual,’ Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness.” Jeffrey said. If you’re at all familiar with “The Ritual,” the monster design is a massive favorite. An Eldritch beast called Moder. Vaguely deer-shaped, but with the head of a splayed human torso.

So if Bambi’s horror design is anything like that, well done at piquing our interest! Although many of us enjoy horror movies that are more than just excuses to murder people. Slasher’s can only be so fun without making it interesting. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that “Bambi: The Reckoning” will be fun and not flat.

Or, they could go the way of “Saturday Night Live,” and cast Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
