We’re Gonna See a De-Aged Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones 5”

This *could* be on the brink of spoilers for the upcoming film “Indiana Jones 5,” so be warned. According to someone who knows- i.e. star Harrison Ford and director James Mangold– we’re gonna see some de-age technology being used in Indy’s 5th adventure.

    Empire Magazine

“This is the first time I’ve seen it where I believe it,” Ford told Empire Magazine. “It’s a little spooky. I don’t think I even want to know how it works, but it works. Doesn’t make me want to be young, though. I’m glad to have earned my age.”

It was also revealed Harrison wore the original “Raiders” jacket to film some of the footage used to de-age him. Also, this could very well lead into the proposed series for Disney+, which may go the way of Young Indy.

“I wanted the chance to dive into this kind of full-on George-and-Steven old picture and give the audience an adrenaline blast,” Mangold said. We’ll apparently see a 1944 Nazi-ridden castle, and an Indiana Jones from back during “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Things apparently go from there to 1969, “so that the audience doesn’t experience the change between the ‘40s and ‘60s as an intellectual conceit, but literally experiences the buccaneering spirit of those early days… and then the beginning of now.”

An era change is nothing new to the franchise, having utilized the story-telling tactic back in “Last Crusade” when introducing the late River Phoenix as young Indy.

“My hope is that, although it will be talked about in terms of technology, you just watch it and go, ‘Oh my God, they just found footage. This was a thing they shot 40 years ago’,” legendary producer Kathleen Kennedy said. “We’re dropping you into an adventure, something Indy is looking for, and instantly you have that feeling, ‘I’m in an Indiana Jones movie.’”

“Indiana Jones 5” is set to hit theaters June 30th, 2023. A teaser/trailer is expected to release when “Avatar: The Way of Water” releases in December of 20222.
