Five Of The Best Games That Are Based On Movies

When it comes to gaming, gamers certainly aren’t short on options in 2022. Given the continued innovation in this space, there is a comprehensive selection of gaming products to tuck into on a variety of gaming devices. There are games for everyone too, movie lovers included.

Movie-themed games have always been popular despite many of them failing to hit the mark on the whole. Some titles, for example, are nothing more than cash grabs by those concerned, while others appear to be lazy attempts at recreating a movie masterpiece. Thankfully, though, not all games that are based on movies have failed. From modern-day options on a smartphone device like the Ace Ventura online slot to classic creations such as Sunsoft’s Batman on the NES, games that are based on movies aren’t always a letdown. In fact, there are some classic releases from this particular category of gaming. Let’s take a look back at five of the best of them below.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

The Star Wars franchise is absolutely humongous, making it entirely predictable that there’d be an array of games released off the back of it, too. While some Star Wars-themed games have been forgettable, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is a masterpiece. Set in the same universe as the movies and featuring the same detailed storylines that fans of the films adore, the game is strong on both visuals and entertainment. Full of complex twists and turns and providing a great deal of fun as you take on the role of Jedi, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is well worth sampling if you can.

    Spider-Man 2

Much like the aforementioned Star Wars, Spider-Man 2 lends itself to the gaming genre extremely well, although not every Spider-Man gaming title is worth playing. When assessing Spider-Man 2, though, it’s a game that certainly bucks the trend. As players explore New York City and crawl their way around and over various landmarks, this open-world product is a joy to play. Players can also swing, jump and fly their way to success, with the game featuring plenty of obstacles to overcome and evil to destroy.

    The Chronicles of Riddick

While there are two versions of the game, both titles of The Chronicles of Riddick deserve to make this particular list. With the chaos and mayhem served up in the movies, these first-person stealth-action games were always expected to do well if the developers in question put the time and effort into them. Thankfully, they did, and the end result is two titles with plenty of action to get stuck into, although Escape From Butcher is certainly more gory.

    Mad Max

The Mad Max movies are ideal for the gaming world. The game was one of the best-selling products around during the month of its release, but it failed to garner as much interest as other titles at the time, such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Still, given the movie’s offering, the game bearing the same name was always going to appeal to some people. An open-world vehicular title with gameplay and combat of the highest order, Mad Max was a success overall.

    GoldenEye 007

It’s probably no surprise to see a James Bond-themed game make the list, and given GoldenEye 007’s all-round offering, it’s a worthy inclusion. A classic first-person shooter title that many gamers grew up with, the title immediately captivated audiences when it was released. From missions to complete with Bond to epic battles players could have with family and friends, GoldenEye 007 is an N64 classic.
