Peter Ramsey is heading from “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” to a galaxy far far away. It was announced he’ll be directing an episode of the upcoming Disney+ series “Ahsoka.” Rosario Dawson is set to reprise her role as the live action Ahsoka Tano. She appeared in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” as the former Padawan to Anakin Skywalker.

    “The Mandalorian,” Disney/Lucasfilm

Hayden Christensen will be returning to the role of Anakin. We know that Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo are all set to co-star. They’ll be joined by Ray Stevenson, who is also playing an unannounced villain.

We hope to see Tano face off against nemesis Grand Admiral Thrawn in the series. Who knows, maybe we will even get a glimpse of Ezra Bridger?!

    Ramsey’s Swinging Into Action

Ramsey got his start in animation and storyboarding. He won an Academy Award for co-directing “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.” Previously, he had directed “Rise of the Guardians” for DreamWorks Animation. There are also two live-action features in development from him. One is “Blood Count” which is apparently a period piece vampire thriller. The other film he’s working on is “Love in Vain” which is a biopic of Blues musician Robert Johnson.

Disney+ has yet to announce how many episodes of this new Star Wars show there will be. Nor have they announced any other directors. Dave Filoni is continuing to write and build out his rich corner of the Star Wars universe. Jon Favreau will executive produce and also continue to put his stamp on the lore. Lucasfilm is supposed to start shooting in Los Angeles later this month. We expect more information during next month’s Star Wars Celebration event.

We look forward to seeing what Peter Ramsey brings to “Ahsoka” and the Star Wars universe! Given their penchant for long standing collaborations it’s exciting to see him enter their rolodex of directors.
