How to Create Multiple Thank You Page Rules in WooCommerce and Set Priorities

In any WooCommerce store, the post-purchase experience can play a crucial role in retaining customers and encouraging repeat business. Simply redirecting everyone to a generic thank you page may not be enough, especially if you sell multiple products or product categories.

Something that puts you ahead of the curve would be a WooCommerce Thank You Page plugin, preferably by Extendons. This plugin allows store owners to create multiple thank you pages, assign rules based on products, categories, tags, or product types, and set priorities to make sure the most relevant page is displayed to each customer.

Using this plugin, you can deliver a highly personalized experience. For example, customers buying a premium product can be redirected to a page highlighting upsell offers or complementary products, while buyers of a subscription item may see instructions specific to their plan. By managing these rules and priorities effectively, you can not only improve engagement but also increase potential sales opportunities directly after checkout.

Creating Multiple Thank You Page Rules and Setting Priorities

Here’s how to set up multiple WooCommerce thank you page rules using the Extendons plugin:

    1. Install and Activate the Plugin
      • From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
      • Upload the plugin’s .zip file, click Install Now, and activate it.
    2. Navigate to the Thank You Page Rules Section
      • Go to WooCommerce > Thank You Page Rule. Here you will see options to create new rules.
    3. Create a New Rule
      • Click Add New Rule.
      • Give the rule a descriptive name, such as “Premium Product Thank You Page” or “Subscription Order Page.”
    4. Enable the Rule
      • Check the box labeled Enable Custom Rule to activate this rule.
    5. Set the Rule Priority
      • Assign a numeric priority value. Lower numbers are higher priority, which means rules with a lower value will be applied before others if multiple rules match a customer’s order.
    6. Define Rule Conditions
      • Under Apply Rule To, choose whether this rule applies to a specific product, category, product tag, or product type (simple, variable, grouped).
      • Select the relevant products or categories from the options that appear.
    7. Assign User Roles (Optional)
      • If you want the rule to apply only to specific customer roles, you can select them here. For example, VIP customers could get a special thank you page.
    8. Set the Redirect Page
      • Choose where the customer should be sent after checkout. Options include a specific WordPress page, product page, category page, or an external URL.
    9. Save the Rule
      • After configuring all options, click Save Rule. Repeat this process for any additional rules you want to create, ensuring each has the appropriate priority set to avoid conflicts.

Other Thank You Page Plugin Features

Besides creating multiple thank you page rules, the Custom thank you page for WooCommerce offers several other useful features:

    • Global Thank You Page: Assign a default page for all orders that don’t match a specific rule.
    • Product-Level Thank You Pages: Customize the thank you page for each product individually.
    • Payment Method Redirects: Redirect customers to different pages based on the payment method selected.
    • Upsell and Cross-Sell Display: Encourage additional purchases directly on the thank you page.
    • Order Details via Shortcodes: Display order number, customer name, billing info, and more dynamically.
    • Customizable Table Appearance: Adjust colors, font sizes, and borders of order tables to match your store branding.
    • Page Customizer Integration: Use WordPress’s native customizer to visually edit the thank you page content and design.

Why Every WooCommerce Store Needs This Plugin

A post-purchase experience doesn’t have to end at the default WooCommerce thank you page. With multiple rules and priorities, you can ensure each customer sees content that’s relevant to their purchase.

This not only makes your store feel more personal but also creates opportunities to display additional offers, cross-sells, or instructions for product usage. It can increase engagement, build customer trust, and ultimately drive repeat sales.

By using a plugin that allows multiple thank you pages, you take control of the final step of the customer journey, turning it into a strategic plugin rather than a simple confirmation page.

    Conclusion

Setting up multiple thank-you page rules in WooCommerce is no longer a complicated task. With the Custom Thank You Page for WooCommerce plugin, you can manage rules based on products, categories, tags, and payment methods while controlling their priority.

This leads every customer to see a relevant and engaging post-purchase page. Coupled with options for upsells, cross-sells, and customized order tables, this plugin transforms your thank you page into a powerful plugin for retention and conversion.

By creating thoughtful rules and using priorities wisely, you can maximize the impact of every purchase and make the post-checkout experience meaningful for your customers.
