Matt Reeves Shares First Look at “The Batman: Part 2” Batmobile

Matt Reeves has released the first official production snapshot of The Batman: Part 2, sharing a photo on X captioned “#SnowTires 🦇” that reveals a teaser image of the Batmobile in the midst of a camera test. It’s the first substantial glimpse fans have had of the long-awaited sequel.

The photos are a call-up to the film’s instantly iconic muscle car Batmobile, now sporting snow tires for this sequel’s new wintery setting. The snowfall is also a clear departure from the rain-soaked Gotham of The Batman. That film opens on Halloween. It follows Bruce Wayne through a grim murder mystery.

When a fan asked if they were testing for The Batman: Part 2, Reeves replied in a follow-up tweet, “Sure is!” Reeves also confirmed a snowy action sequence is to be expected in the sequel, answering a different fan, “Indeed, it is.”

With production officially in camera test mode at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, The Batman: Part 2 is finally getting real momentum after years of speculation. The film has been in official development since the original and was originally slated for an October 2025 release, but has been delayed a full year twice to a new October 2027 release date.

Filming is set to begin in London in June.

Fan theories are already heating up. The snow visuals are certainly sparking speculation, resulting in Mr. Freeze being the most heated fan theory. Especially as Reeves has previously hinted that the sequel’s villain has “never really been done” in a film before. Right now, no one is officially cast as Victor Fries in The Batman: Part 2. It’s also just a speculation because as we all know, Arnold Schwarzenegger famously played Mr. Freeze in 1997’s Batman and Robin.

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne. He’s joined by Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Barry Keoghan, will also reportedly play the Joker. Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast as Gilda Dent, the wife of Gotham district attorney Harvey Dent. Sebastian Stan is taking on the role of Harvey Dent. Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance joined the cast most recently, and is set to portray Harvey’s father, Christopher Dent.

Reeves co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin and told Variety at the Emmys in September, “It’s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I’m really proud of the script me and Mattson did.”

Since The Penguin TV series ended last winter, the 2027 sequel is likely to pick up just a snap after the HBO drama ended. The Batman: Part 2 will release in theaters October 1, 2027.
