Best Free PC Games You Should Be Playing in 2026

PC gaming keeps getting more expensive. New GPUs cost as much as a used car. AAA releases are pushing past $70. And somehow your Steam wishlist keeps growing while your wallet keeps shrinking.

Good news: some of the best games on PC right now cost exactly nothing. And we are not talking about low-effort cash grabs stuffed with ads. These are full, polished, genuinely fun games that happen to be free. Whether you have an afternoon to kill or you need something to obsess over for the next six months, this list has you covered.

    Marvel Rivals

If you are a superhero fan and a shooter fan, Marvel Rivals is basically made for you. It is a team-based hero shooter with a roster pulled straight from the Marvel universe. Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Magneto, and a bunch more, all with abilities that actually feel like their comic book counterparts.

The matches are fast, chaotic, and surprisingly tactical once you start learning how different heroes combo together. It scratches the same itch as Overwatch but with a Marvel skin that feels like more than just a reskin. The art style pops, the abilities feel punchy, and there is enough depth to keep you playing long after the novelty wears off. For a Nerdbot audience, this one is a no-brainer.

    Valorant

Riot Games took the tactical shooter formula from Counter-Strike, added hero abilities, and created one of the most competitive free games on PC. Five years in, it is still one of the most played games in the world.

What keeps people coming back is the depth. Every agent plays differently, team composition matters, and the skill ceiling is high enough that you can play for hundreds of hours and still feel like you are improving. One well-timed Sova arrow or a clutch Jett dash can completely swing a round, and that is the kind of moment that keeps you queueing up for one more game at 2 AM.

    Delta Force

Delta Force came back from the dead as a free-to-play tactical shooter, and it is way better than anyone expected. The game mixes large-scale battlefield modes with tighter extraction gameplay, so you get variety without needing to install two separate games.

The gunplay is solid, the maps are big enough to feel like real warzones, and the extraction mode adds that “one more run” tension where losing your loot actually stings. It launched with a healthy player base and the updates have been consistent. If you liked the old Delta Force games or just want a military shooter that does not cost $70, this is it.

    Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves is an open-world action RPG with an anime art style and a combat system that is genuinely impressive for a free game. If you played Genshin Impact and wished the combat was faster and more skill-based, this is the answer.

The world is atmospheric, the character designs are great, and the boss fights are legitimately challenging. The gacha system is there, because of course it is, but you can enjoy the core game without spending a thing. Regular updates keep adding new areas and characters, and the story has gotten better with each patch. It is one of those games that keeps pulling you back in.

    Dota 2

Dota 2 has been around since 2013 and it is still one of the most played games on Steam every single day. There is a reason for that. The MOBA has a depth that borders on absurd. Over 120 heroes, each with unique abilities, and a meta that shifts constantly with patches and community discoveries.

Fair warning: the learning curve is more like a learning cliff. But if you stick with it, there are few competitive games that feel as rewarding when things click. A well-executed team fight in Dota is a rush that no other game quite replicates. It also has one of the biggest esports scenes in gaming, so if you get hooked, there is always something to watch and learn from.

    More Than Just These Five

This is barely scratching the surface. There are dozens of quality free PC games across Steam, Epic, and other platforms that most people never discover because they stick to one storefront. New F2P titles launch constantly, and stores like Epic regularly give away paid games for free if you claim them in time.

If you want to keep track of what is available right now without checking every store manually, browsing all free games in one place is the fastest way to make sure you are not missing anything. Your wallet will thank you.
