A new international music competition is opening to artists around the world, offering emerging musicians the chance to win a record deal with global distribution through Sony Music’s distribution network, along with an international promotional campaign and professional production support.
The competition is being launched ahead of the public release of MyTalent, a new discovery platform designed to help emerging artists gain visibility in an increasingly crowded music landscape.
Any artist who registers on the platform is automatically entered into the competition, allowing musicians, bands, and creators to submit performances and begin building a following before the full platform launches on June 1.
The winning artist will receive a professional music release package that includes global distribution, promotion, and mixing and mastering handled by Grammy-winning audio engineers who have joined the platform to help discover new talent.
Fans Help Artists Advance
One of the most distinctive aspects of the competition is the role played by fans.
Artists can increase their chances of advancing by inviting their fans to join the platform and support their performances. As supporters follow and engage with an artist’s profile, the artist gains greater visibility within the competition.
The concept effectively turns audiences into early supporters helping highlight new talent during the discovery process.
Rewards for Fans Who Support Artists
MyTalent also plans to recognize the role fans play in the discovery process.
Through sponsor partnerships and platform engagement, supporters who help promote and back artists may receive rewards and recognition tied to their participation.
If successful, the model could represent a shift in how music audiences interact with emerging artists. Traditionally, fans discover artists after they become successful. MyTalent’s system attempts to reverse that dynamic by allowing fans to participate while artists are still breaking through.
A Competition Built Around Community
Breaking into the music industry has become more accessible than ever thanks to streaming platforms — but standing out has become increasingly difficult. Thousands of songs are uploaded every day, leaving many talented artists struggling to be heard.
MyTalent is experimenting with a different approach.
Instead of relying purely on algorithm-driven discovery, the platform organizes competition-based discovery cycles, where artists submit performances and progress through stages based on audience engagement and professional evaluation.
Artists can upload original songs, covers, or live performances, gaining visibility within the platform as the competition progresses.
Interest From Grammy-Winning Professionals
Even before its public launch, MyTalent has reportedly attracted interest from several figures within the music industry.
According to the company, Grammy-winning producers, engineers, and recording artists have expressed interest in contributing to competitions, evaluating performances, and helping identify promising new talent on the platform.
Their involvement is intended to bring professional insight into the competition while offering emerging artists a chance to have their work evaluated by experienced industry professionals.
Early Access Through “Backstage”

The competition is currently taking place within the platform’s Backstage early-access section, where artists and fans can join before the official launch.
This early phase allows creators to build profiles, upload performances, and begin participating in the competition while the platform develops its first global community.
“We want discovery to be something artists and fans experience together,” said Marielle Øverås, Head of Marketing at MyTalent.
“There are incredible musicians everywhere, but many never get the visibility they deserve. By combining competitions, fan support, and industry involvement, we hope to create a platform where talent can truly stand out.”
A Global Invitation
The competition is open to performers worldwide and welcomes artists across all musical styles.
For emerging musicians looking to reach audiences beyond their local scenes, the competition offers an opportunity to participate in a structured discovery format while building a following.
