Well there’s a headline we never saw coming! How often do you get to talk about alien existence and the president commenting on them? It’s one thing when a celebrity comments on alien existence; lord bless Dan Aykroyd but he doesn’t exactly radiate authority like a president does. So, when President Barack Obama recently stated on a podcast that aliens are real, it elicited a LOT of reaction. Here’s what he said.
The former president appeared on a podcast by Brian Tyler Cohen and was asked “Are aliens real?” His response, “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.” He then goes on to state they’re not being kept in an underground bunker either. Additionally, President Obama states he’s not seen any evidence of aliens. Still, this was enough for some sites to run this as proof of alien existence.
Putting things in Context
The former president is trying to elaborate on this now after the attention his words have received. Obama stated that his response was given in the context of a lightning round of questions from Cohen. In the setting of short, rapid fire answers, one doesn’t normally give long, detailed replies. The more complete answer is that President Obama believes there is alien life out there. Just out of sheer probability, Obama thinks that there is something out there but odds are they haven’t visited Earth.
“Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”
Obama
Of course, this isn’t going to stop conspiracy theorists who will state that the president was forced to say this. The reality of the situation is that nothing has changed in the world of UFOlogy. Obama didn’t confirm anything, just stating his personal beliefs.
Fox Mulder is very disappointed right now.
