The final trailer for Amazon MGM Studios’ film based on Andy Weir‘s third novel, “Project Hail Mary” has released. Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, who meets an alien while on a mission to save their planets.

Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (“The LEGO Movie,” “Spider-Verse“) are directing, from a script by Drew Goddard (who also wrote the screenplay for “The Martian“). The great Greig Fraser (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Dune: Part One“) is handling the cinematography, and Daniel Pemberton (“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse“) is scoring the film.

Sandra Hüller, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub, and Liz Kingsman also star.

“Rocky was built and designed by the legendary Neal Scanlon and his creature shop and is performed by puppeteering legend James Ortiz and his team who were on set with Ryan in every scene,” Lord said about the new trailer. “Rocky’s performance is a beautiful collaboration between the James and the other Rockyteers on set and the wonderful animators at Framestore led by the funny soulful Arslan Elver.”

And in this final trailer, we get to hear Rocky’s voice. Most fans hoped the character would be performed by Ray Porter, who read the audiobook. (Porter has also been pretty much confirmed by directors Lord and Miller, as well as Weir, as having a part in the film, although not what part.)

“Introducing the incredibly talented lead puppeteer James Ortiz as the translated voice of Rocky,” Miller revealed. “He was the voice and scene partner with Ryan on set – he *was* Rocky. And also Priya Kansara as Mary, the voice of the Hail Mary ship!”

“Project Hail Mary” will hit theaters March 20th, 2026. (Right between my son’s and my birthday!)

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
