Amazon MGM Studios currently holds the rights to the legendary James Bond films. Now, despite the company having its own streaming service with Prime Video and MGM+, all 25 of the classic films will be coming to rival Netflix. The competing streamers have signed a deal to allow Netflix the rights to stream the titles for a brief period of time. (Rumored to be 3 months, but nothing is official.)
Later this month, Netflix will begin to stream films like “Die Another Day,” “No Time to Die,” “Quantum of Solace,” and “Skyfall.”

But it doesn’t end with Bond titles, Netflix will also add titles like “Rocky,” “Creed,” and “Legally Blonde.” Alongside previously Prime exclusive and original series like ”The Man in the High Castle” and the already added David Weil’s “Hunters.”
What This Means
Basically, this is like when HBO started licensing parts of its library out to Netflix.
“When Amazon acquired MGM, Amazon’s plan was to continue licensing MGM’s iconic library to streaming and television partners around the world. Bringing these iconic films and shows to Netflix is part of that continued strategy,” Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution, Amazon MGM Studios, said. “James Bond remains one of the most enduring and influential franchises in cinematic history, and alongside other beloved titles in our library like Hunters, among other series, this agreement reflects the continued global appetite for premium storytelling and the strong working relationship we’ve built with Netflix.”
Which could be a reasonable explanation and hopefully not a sign we are barrelling towards all media being controlled by one big megacorp. Not so fast, Paramount.
Starting January 15th, Netflix subscribers can check out all 25 James Bond films, for a limited time.
