Cinemark’s BYOB[ucket] Returns for National Popcorn Day

Monday, January 19th marks a hallowed holiday for this nation, National Popcorn Day! Cinemark Theaters is celebrating by bringing back their BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) promotion.

On January 18 and 19th, customers can bring (almost) any bucket, and have it filled with delicious popcorn for just $5! The only catch is that containers can’t exceed 400 oz or the equivalent of two Cinemark XL popcorns. Given all theaters’ rising concession prices, this is still one heck of a good deal.

To literally sweeten the deal, some locations will even have kettle corn available.

You can find your nearest Cinemark theater here. We look forward to seeing everyone’s unique popcorn receptacles. 2025’s popcorn vessels included traffic cones, orange Home Depot pails, and even an urn.

Not everyone loves the day, either. This 2025 post from a reddit user (who claims to be a theater concessions worker) kind of says it all.
