ICE Arrests Set to Pokémon Theme Goes Viral [Video]

No, that isn’t some horrific clickbait title. The White House has posted a video of arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) set to the “Pokémon“ theme song. Because this country apparently CAN become a bigger joke than it already is.

So for several months, ICE has been out in full force arresting alleged undocumented immigrants. Up to and including those who supported the current regime responsible for this. To brag about all these arrests, the White House’s social media accounts are posting increasingly “humorous” boasts, including an AI-generated image (illegally) based on Studio Ghibli mocking Virginia Basora-Gonzalez’s arrest.

The latest post is a montage of ICE arrests set to the theme from the 1990s “Pokémon” series. Spliced in with shots of child protagonist Ash Ketchum throwing Poké Balls. All because you “gotta catch ’em all.” Showing once and for all that being hip and memeing with the kids is totally worth more than the detainee’s dignity.

If that wasn’t enough, at the end, we are greeted with several doctored Pokémon cards. Each one with the face of someone arrested by ICE, and their alleged crime underneath. Keep in mind, back in August, an ICE propaganda video was taken down for using JAY-Z’s 2003 song “Public Service Announcement.”

The video has already amassed 30 million views on X and another 3.8 million on TikTok.

Given that this video is a clear violation of copyright, and Nintendo being notoriously litigious, fans are asking the company to file suit. They have issued a statement on the matter:
