Anna Faris, Regina Hall Returning for “Scary Movie” Revival

After a lack of comedic showing on the big screen recently, we’re starting to see comedies come back in a meaningful way recently. “The Naked Gun” revival with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson was very well received, and late last year we were happy to report the “Scary Movie” franchise was coming back. Though our elation in that was actually met more by the fact that the series would be returning to the hands of the Wayans Brothers, who originally got the series up and running with the first two installments. Now we have more reason to celebrate as original stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall are coming back too.

Faris and Hall were staples of the franchise, even when it changed hands from being written by Shawn and Marlon Wayans to being handled by Pat Proft and David Zucker. For whatever reason, both Faris and Hall weren’t featured in the franchise’s most recent film, “Scary Movie 5,” back in 2013. Their characters of Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks respectively actually managed to survive the insanity of the first four films, but the actresses are happy to bring them “back to life,” so to say for the upcoming revival.

Said Faris and Hall, ““We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon—three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.)” Keenen Ivory Wayans directed the first two installment and is coming back as a producer for this sixth installment. Marlon made reference to the casting news with a nice little throwback photo on Instagram.

Both actresses have remained busy in the years since their last Scary Movie appearance. Faris notably had her run on the series, “Mom” and Hall has been active in film and television as an actress and a producer. Having the gang back together for a new Scary Movie though feels like the kind of return to a happier time that comedies are good for. Currently, “Scary Movie 6″ is scheduled for a June 12th, 2026 release. Hopefully we’ll be dying with laughter when the series returns to the big screen.
