Police departments receive numerous unusual reports every year, but we believe San Bernardino, California’s will have the most unusual of 2025. Around noon on July 13th, the Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a teddy bear seemingly wrapped in human skin. The bizarre object was found outside the AMPM store in Victorville.
The store is located at the 1300 block of Bear Valley Road… So they’re potentially dealing with a maniac who likes puns!

When officers arrived, they found the morbid bear just outside the AMPM store’s front entrance. A coroner explained the object and then bagged it for further investigation.
Is It Skin?
In reality, the whole thing ended up being an elaborate prank. The company Dark Seed Creations came forward as the creators of the doll. “I cant make this shit up! One of my skin teddy bears has apparently been involved in a prank that brought police attention! This is fucking wild,” they posted on Facebook.
Twisted teddy bears are a fairly common item at horror conventions. And it seems that Dark Seed’s attention to realism may have taken it one step too far in this case.
“One of things that we’re known for is that we make a lot of these props that are fake human skin,” Robert Kelly of Dark Seed Creations, who told KTLA. “So, those are all made out of latex. They’re created from a mold. Our stuff is pretty recognizable in the industry. So, once this happened a few hours ago, my phone started blowing up, Facebook started blowing up.”
There is still no word on who initially placed the teddy bear. But we’d like to thank Dark Seed for coming forward so quickly and saving some time in the investigation.
We’ll keep you posted on updates about the fake skin teddy bear situation as it develops.
