more casting news from the world of Panem! Sounds like Elle Fanning (“The Great,” “Predator: Badlands“) has been tapped to play a younger version of tribute stylist extraordinaire Effie Trinket in “Sunrise on the Reaping,” a “Hunger Games” prequel film.
In the original “Hunger Games” quadrilogy, Effie was played brilliantly by Elizabeth Banks. Fanning in an excellent choice. She’ll join a cast that includes Joseph Zada as Haymitch, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latie (played by Jeffrey Wright in “Catching Fire“), Maya Hawke as Wiress (played by Amanda Plummer), Lili Taylor as Mags, Ben Wang as Wyatt, and Ralph Fiennes as President Snow.
Francis Lawrence, who helmed all but the first film in the series, will direct.
“Sunrise on the Reaping” currently has a release date of November 20th, 2026. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.
