After conquering baseball in 2010’s “How Do You Know,” Owen Wilson is setting his sights on the world of golf. In Apple TV+’s upcoming series “Stick,” Wilson will play a pro golfer who tanked his career. The ten-episode series was created by Jason Keller, with Valerie Faris, Jonathan Dayton, Jaffar Mahmood, David Dobkin, M.J. Delaney, and John Hamburg directing.

The plot centers on Pryce Cahill (Wilson), an over-the-hill, disgraced pro golfer who derailed his career by throwing a full-on tantrum on the green. Twenty years later, his marriage failed, and he is losing his job at an Indiana sporting goods store. With nothing left to lose, Pryce bets everything on Santi (Peter Dager),  a troubled 17-year-old golf prodigy.

While the plot may sound serious, the series is billed as a feel-good sports comedy about finding family. “Stick” also stars Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer, and Timothy Olyphant. Alongside pro golfers Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, and Wyndham Clark.

Keller will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Faris, Dayton, and Mahmood will also executive produce with Ben Silverman for Propagate Content, Guymon Casady for Entertainment 360, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Christopher Moynihan, and Bill Callahan.

The first three episodes of “Stick” will premiere on Apple TV+ on June 4th. After that, a new episode will drop every Wednesday until July 23rd. You can check out the series’ first trailer below:
