Last month ended a lengthy legal dispute over who controls the rights to the legendary “James Bond” franchise. Pierce Brosnan now says he would be open to returning to the role over two decades after he last played the character in 2002’s “Die Another Day.”

During a recent interview about his new show “MobLand” a social media post with him in a tuxedo was brought up. This image had fans in a tizzy that he may be hinting at playing 007 again. When asked if he thought he could return as Bond, “I think I could get away with it, yes,” he told the “TODAY Show” host. “In a pinch.”

When asked if he would want to play Bond again; “I don’t know. Let’s see where the wind takes us,” he replied. “Let’s see what happens. They know where to find me. Why not?”

They moved on to discussing how physical the role is and whether it would be too much for Brosnan now. He pointed out how physical his role in Guy Ritchie’s Paramount+ series “MobLand” is.

“That’s very kind of you to say,” Brosnan added. “There’s great things you can do with AI as well, so there you have it. [But] I’m quite content the way it is. I love Mobland, and The Thursday Murder Club is coming out sometime this year.”

Brosnan first played 007 in 1995’s “GoldenEye,” followed by “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “The World Is Not Enough,” and “Die Another Day” ended his run. With Amazon taking over creative control of the franchise, everyone is abuzz about who the next Bond will be. But we can never fully rule out a good throwback, and Brosnan *is* a fan favorite.

Brosnan stars in “MobLand” along with Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren. He can also be seen alongside Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and David Tennant in Netflix’s upcoming “The Thursday Murder Club.”
