Sam Heughan Says Goodbye to Jamie Fraser and “Outlander”

It’s always sad to see a show you love end. Even more so when you’ve been one of the main stars of said series for over 10 years. Sam Heughan, who has played Jamie Fraser in STARZ series “Outlander,” has done his last day of recording.

“Well. That’s it. The last ADR on ‘Outlander’ completed,” Heughan says. “On the Universal lot. The studio, behind me. Very emotional, but I’m very excited for the fans to see the final episode. It’s gonna be quite….quite an emotional one. But I know you’re going to love it.”

He then takes a beat, and you can see the thoughts processing before he says, simply and heartfelt, “Thank you, Jamie.”

ADR, if you’re unfamiliar, are the recording sessions that take place after filming is complete. Usually these happen if any of the sound or dialog captured live on set needs to be fixed, amped up, or a voice over track is needed.

It’s been a long and special ride. We’ve enjoyed the series over the years, and of course all the times we’ve been lucky enough to speak with the cast and creatives. Season 8 part 2 of “Outlander” doesn’t have a set release date yet, but we’ll let you know what we hear about this and other news.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
