We are very sorry to share the news that “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Gossip Girl” star Michelle Trachtenberg has reportedly passed away. This is according to ABC News, who say New York City police confirmed the sad news to them.
“It is with great sadness to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away,” her rep confirmed. “The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.”
TMZ reports they were informed Trachtenberg underwent a liver transplant in 2024, and that her passing may have been due to complications due to her body rejecting that transplant.
Trachtenberg (“Harriet the Spy,” “Eurotrip“) was one of the several actresses to bring allegations towards writer/director Joss Whedon of harassment, inappropriate and threatening behavior during her time working with him, as well as later in her career as well.
There had been talk that perhaps she too would return for the upcoming “Buffy” revival alongside her tv sister, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Trachtenberg was 39.
