Fresh off the monumental success of his “Nosferatu” remake, Robert Eggers is diving head first into his next film “Werwulf.” The movie is set in the 13th century and is said to be a medieval horror movie.
During a recent event, Eggers warned audiences that this would be his darkest film yet. And given the filmmaker’s penchant for gloomy tales of gorey gothic horror, that’s saying something.
“It’s a medieval werewolf movie. And it’s also the darkest thing I’ve ever written. By far,” he teased.
Eggers will direct “Werwulf” from a script he co-wrote with Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón. The duo also penned “The Northman” together, and will write the upcoming “Labyrinth” sequel.
“Werwulf” is slated to hit theaters on Christmas Day 2026. We’ll keep you posted on updates about the project as they become available.
