We’re sorry to report Netflix’s “The Sandman” series will not be getting a third season. The show, which was based on the comic character, originally premiered in 2022 on the streaming service. It took the majority of it’s cues from the Vertigo (later DC Comics) title largely written by Neil Gaiman.
“’The Sandman’ series has always been focused exclusively on Dream’s story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season,” showrunner Allan Heinberg said in a statement. “We are extremely grateful to Netflix for bringing the team all back together and giving us the time and resources to make a faithful adaptation in a way that we hope will surprise and delight the comics’ loyal readers as well as fans of our show.”
Netflix did not official state a reason for the cancellation. While we’re not saying it’s another casualty of the accusations against Gaiman, but, its highly likely it is.
Season 2 will still release sometime in 2025.
