Essential Botox Aftercare Tips You Need to Know Post-Injection

Proper Botox aftercare will make a world of difference in the result of your treatment. After the injections, you need to know some dos and don’ts to ensure that you’ll achieve a younger look without any intense side effects.

For this post, we’ll share some tips on how to do after care for Botox the right way. So, whether you’re planning to try Botox for the first time or going on your next appointment, make sure you know about the tips below!

    Dos and don’ts after Botox

After-Botox care isn’t as complicated as invasive procedures like surgical facelifts. In fact, you can schedule your Botox treatment during your lunch break and return to work right after.

Still, you have to follow a few reminders to avoid complications, such as migration, where the Botox transfers to another part of the face. Also, you should know how to do skincare after Botox to avoid inadvertently messing up its effects.

With that said, make sure you keep these dos and don’ts in mind:

    What TO DO after Botox

    • Avoid certain medications. First, your Botox provider will advise you to pause certain medications like ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, and aspiring before, during, and shortly after your injections.
    • Maintain good skin hygiene. So, can you wash your face after Botox? Yes, you can, but you should be as gentle as possible and avoid a scrubbing motion.
    • Protect yourself against heat. Avoid heat exposure, including direct sunlight, hot tubs, saunas, and more. But when can you wear a hat after Botox? If the treatment area is your forehead, avoid wearing one.
    • Be gentle when touching your face. As we’ve mentioned earlier, you should be gentle when touching or moving your face. For example, you shouldn’t avoid lip scrubs within 24 hours after your lip flip.

What NOT TO DO after Botox

    • Don’t lie down right after the treatment. As part of your aftercare after Botox, you have to remain upright for at least four hours. The longer you can stay up, the better to prevent the substance from migrating.
    • Don’t use makeup and certain facial products. For the first 24 hours after your injections, you should avoid any makeup. Instead, you can use the best face cream after Botox or other products your injector recommends. But can I use hyaluronic acid after Botox? You can, but you should wait for a day or two before applying it.
    • Don’t engage in strenuous physical activities. To take care of your face after Botox, you should rest and relax for the next 24 hours. Avoid too much physical activity as this can cause the Botox to migrate.
    • Don’t get any other skin treatments yet. You should wait for at least 5 to 7 days or longer before your facial after Botox to prevent it from spreading out of the intended treatment areas. The same goes for any facial treatments that you might have in mind.
    • Don’t use straws when drinking. For 3 days after your injections, avoid using straws, smoking, or anything that will make your pucker, especially if the treatment site is your lips.

When should you call a medical professional?

Most Botox aftercare instructions are simple and easy to follow. However, if you need more assistance with Botox skin care, you can always contact your provider.

Also, if the swelling isn’t going away or has been getting worse for days, it’s important to call your injector. Although extremely rare, you might have an allergic reaction to the substance. Another possible scenario is that your injection site has been infected after the treatment.

Still, you don’t have to wait for adverse side effects before you call your injector. As part of your Botox post-care, certified injectors will schedule you for a follow-up appointment. This way, they can check if you’re getting the desired results and if there are no complications in the treatment area.

Aside from that, your injector can give you professional Botox tips to maintain the results.

Trust a professional injector for hassle-free post-Botox care

To make sure you’ll have a hassle-free post-treatment Botox experience, you should only get your injections from a trusted medical spa. Make sure that your injector is certified and experienced in the treatment area that you want to improve. This way, you can avoid nasty side effects and receive proper care after Botox.

Above all, professional injectors can give you youthful and natural-looking results. You’ll also have peace of mind that your skin and beauty goals are in good hands.

So, instead of taking chances on dirt-cheap Botox injections and amateurs, you should only trust professionals for all your cosmetic treatments. If you’re in North Hollywood, Pure Skin Laser Center is the top-rated option for those looking for the best Botox before and aftercare.
