    Its a Bird, It’s a Plane- It’s James Gunn’s “Superman” Teaser

There are a lot of hopes and dreams riding on James Gunn‘s next film. After making the more permeant jump from Marvel Studios to co-head of the newly launched DC Studios, Gunn will be tackling perhaps the most iconic comic character of them all- “Superman.”

Apparently, this won’t be another origin story. “We just start in the middle of the action,” Gunn told Gizmodo. “Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, although they don’t know each other personally. So we start right in the middle of the action.”

The film will star David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olson,  Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, María Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Wendell Pierce as Daily Planet editor Perry White, Prutti Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern.

“Everything needs to stand by itself,” Gunn said about this film. “I don’t want somebody to have to go see this movie and be relying on anything else. Now listen, once we get down the line, that may change a little bit. Are seeds being planted? Yes, there’s seeds being planted, but that is never going to be the predominant thing in any scene for me. It’s always about getting to the next scene. What’s in the moment? How are we making this movie the best we can be? And it’s going to stay like that as much as I can possibly make it like that.”

We are very excited to share the first official teaser!

“Superman” is set to hit theaters July 11th, 2025.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
