There are less than 100 days until Halloween and in my house, we’ve already decorated. Truthfully we’re just gonna keep up the decorations until after Christmas and call it “Nightmare Before Christmas” and mix and match until we’re happy with the final result. To add an extra something to our decorations leading up to and on the night of Halloween we like to set up our AAXA Halloween Projector with a mesh sheet over the windows and play spooky illuminations so the neighbor’s kids can get excited to visit our house. This year, AAXA sent me their newest model projector to review so I can tell you all about the upgrades they made to their previous models, the AAXA HP2 and AAXA HP3.
The HP4 Halloween Projector comes pre-loaded with a whopping 8 Halloween animations. Each one perfect for setting up in the window and setting up behind a white mesh sheet. The image will project through it to the outside and make it look like you have something special happening in your house. You get to choose from animations like the Accursed Helmsman, Restless Spirit, Phantom of the Park, Zombies at the Window and many more! Plus you can also hook up something like a Firestick or Roku and project Halloween films, last year we chose to stream “Hocus Pocus” and the kids loved it.
Performance
This projector is similar to the HP3 projector that I reviewed for Halloween back in 2022. I’d say it’s the same aesthetically but has a more impressive output. The quality of the picture compared to the HP3 is a HUGE step up. It’s larger, more clear and the sound quality is better from the projector itself.
Sound
The built in speaker gets LOUD. At higher volumes the sound does get a little wonky. But, because it has ways to attach a speaker to it, you don’t even have to use them if you don’t want to. I did put it through a test of different pitches and sounds and it made it through them all, though it was a bit grating on the ears. I recommend that you attach a separate speaker to it either via Bluetooth or through the 3.5 MM headphone jack. For the one I was sent, I used my computer speakers and the sound was much better at higher volumes.
Clarity
I was able to use this in my bedroom simply by setting it on my tall dresser and aiming it at the blank wall I never got around to decorating. Now I know why I didn’t, it’s perfect for projecting movies on to! Lately at my house it’s been big bowls of popcorn and Godzilla movies with me and the kids. And to say that they pay more attention to a huge projection than a regular TV is an understatement. They are in awe of the huge amount of space that their shows and movies can get to with this. The size of the projection is a big step up from the HP3 which topped out at 30-100″. This one goes to 230″ and the images are clear. You can even set up a Roku to it and read everything perfectly. The previous models had a bit of an issue with making text clear enough to read. This model completely fixes that issue. It doesn’t feel like looking at the letters in the optometrists office and guessing anymore, it’s THAT clear! I’m getting older too, so the larger screen size really helped.
Balance
They also included an adjustable kickstand on the projector which allows you to better set it at the appropriate angle. It still had a bit of a balancing problem so I stuffed packs of tissues under it to help stabilize. Not the classiest fix but it worked great and I got it to stay even. You may want to look into getting something to stick under the feet that will allow you to adjust the sides. Like wood dowels or even bits from a match game that kids have, those little cardboard pieces. This model does have an attachment option built in so that you can screw it on top of a tripod, but I didn’t use that feature this time.

Overall
This is not only a great Halloween projector, but an amazing family movie projector. The cost of the AAXA HP4 is much less than some of the larger brand projectors on the market. Plus, this projector is made by a smaller company that really cares about customer feedback. I fully recommend getting one of these for Halloween as well as everyday use at home.
