Brandon Bird, the artist behind the “Law & Order” coloring book and valentines, the Nicolas Cage colorform adventure set, and that one painting floating around the internet of Christopher Walken building a robot in his garage is working on a new project for 2025. A new Takes on Frakes calendar which will be host to a collection of artist’s renditions of the man himself- Jonathan Frakes!

Takes on Frakes will be a unique art exhibition, promising to deliver a dozen distinct portrayals of the “Star Trek” actor and director. Each portrait will be crafted in differing styles and mediums. These 12 works of art will feature a distinctive Frakes for every month of the 2025 calendar year.

12 months, 12 unique artistic interpretations of Jonathan Frakes

Unlike previous calendars which featured Frakes, the new “Takes on Frakes” calendar will be larger in size. Instead of the standard 6 inches by 6 inches format, this one will double the dimensions to a colossal 12 inches by 12 inches!

In addition to the numerous artistic expressions of Frakes, the project has ambitious stretch goals aimed at producing additional exclusive content if the funding milestones are achieved. For instance, once the funding reaches the $7000 mark, each calendar will come with exclusive Frakes themed stickers and/or postcards.

John Larriva, a painter based in central New York known for his figurative work (and shirtless Jeff Goldblums).

If the funding reaches the $20,000 mark, the project will take a leap into the future by carrying the Frakes spirit into 2026. This stretch goal promises to add extra months to the calendar, thus prolonging the Frakes experience. Plus, it will provide an opportunity for more artists to contribute their unique interpretations of Frakes.

Twenty-five dollars (plus shipping) will bring a Frakes calendar into your home this coming holiday season. Pledge more, and receive additional calendars at a discounted price. They have six days to go, so check out the kickstarter here.
