Filmmaker Kevin Smith (“Clerks”) is looking to take everyone back to his mid-1980s teen years with “The 4:30 Movie.” Smith both wrote and directed the coming-of-age film based on of his own experiences as a movie loving teen in New Jersey. In fact, large parts of the movie were shot in his home state and Smodcastle Cinemas, a theater he co-owns.

“The 4:30 Movie”
The first trailer is perfectly backed by Kim Wilde’s infectiously upbeat tune “Kids in America.” We see a 16-year-old boy (Austin Zajur) working up the nerve to ask his crush Melody (Siena Agudong) out to an R-rated movie at, you guessed it, 4:30. The problem is the teen and his buddies have a habit of sneaking into the cinema every weekend. This causes them to run afoul of the theater manager (Ken Jeong) who bans them from the building.
As you can imagine things get even more hilariously complicated in their quest to see this movie and impress Melody.

The Cast
“The 4:30 Movie,” also stars Nicholas Cirillo (“Good Egg”), Reed Northrup (“Teenage Euthanasia”), Justin Long (“Tusk”), and Rosario Dawson (“Clerks III””). Along with Jason Biggs (“Jay and Silent Bob Reboot”), Rachel Dratch (“Grimsburg”), Method Man (“Power Book II: Ghost”), Jason Lee (“Mallrats”). Even Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn (“Cruel Summer”) has a cameo in a fake trailer playing the nun Sister Sugar Walls. As expected the ensemble cast is a lot of newcomers, mixed in with some of Smith’s regular partners in crime.
Emmy winner Bear McCreary (“God of War,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power“), who worked with Smith on “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe,” is handling the score.
“The 4:30 Movie” hits theaters on September 13th. You can check out the first nostalgia-blasted NSFW trailer below:
