Prime Video is bringing us back to middle-Earth in the official trailer for season 2 of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.” The trailer was revealed during a panel in Hall H at SDCC. Audiences were again treated to an absolutely incredible performance of music from the show from Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary.

“The Rings of Power” stars Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Markella Kavenagh as Nori Brandyfoot, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, Robert Aramayo as Elrond, Maxim Baldry as Isildur, Benjamin Walker as Gil-galad, Charles Edwards as Celebrimbor, Daniel Weyman as The Stranger, Owain Arthur as Durin IV, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand/Sauron, Sophia Nomvete as Disa, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Míriel.

We do know that Rory Kinnear (“Penny Dreadful,” “No Time to Die“) will bring Tom Bombadil to life in season two.

“Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will. Building on Season 1’s epic scope and ambition, Season 2 of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power plunges even its most beloved and vulnerable characters into a rising tide of darkness, challenging each to find their place in a world that is increasingly on the brink of calamity. Elves and dwarves, orcs and men, wizards and Harfoots… as friendships are strained and kingdoms begin to fracture, the forces of good will struggle ever more valiantly to hold on to what matters to them most of all… each other.”

Possibly the most expensive television series ever made, “The Rings of Power” has been planned for at least 5 seasons. Season 2 is set to hit Prime Video August 29th, 2024. Check out the new trailer below:

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
