The much-anticipated film “Alien: Romulus” just entered 2024’s competition for best popcorn bucket. It’s just the latest combatant in the war between “Deadpool and Wolverine,” “Dune: Part Two,” and “The Boys” over who can make the bucket with the most…je ne sais quoi.

Our first look at their popcorn bucket features a Facehugger wrapped around it. This fan-favorite creature has technically not been seen since “Alien 3,” Fede Alvarez‘s “Romulus” has been seriously hyping its return to the franchise.

Not to be outdone, a few hours later, Regal Cinemas posted their own video of a completely different bucket. This one is shaped more like a traditional adult Xenomorph, complete with two mouths. Captioned with the promise that; “A horrifying new popcorn bucket is coming to Regal”.

Its structural perfection is matched only by it’s collectability.

So it looks like we have the first case of dueling popcorn buckets within a franchise. All we know is neither one looks like you should be able to have sex with it. And we still aren’t sure if that means this is the best or the worst timeline.

“Alien: Romulus” hits theaters August 16th. You can check out the official trailer below:
