    HBO FINALLY Greenlights “Green Lantern” Series

    This just in-

    after half a decade, we’re FINALLY gonna get a show about “Green Lantern” and the Lantern Corps! It’ll be an 8-episode series, with Chris Mundy (“Ozark,” “True Detective: Night Country“) serving as showrunner.

    The focus for “Lanterns” will be on DC Comics characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two of the longest-running to carry the mantle of Green Lantern.

    Mundy will co-write the series along with Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen,” “Lost“) and Eisner Award winner Tom King.

    “We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon and Tom at the helm,” DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran said in a statement. “John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and ‘Lanterns‘ brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with ‘Superman.’”

    Obviously with “Lanterns” getting a straight to series order, there is likely to be additional news about casting (and whether or not this will be live-action) soon. It, like other projects, will be officially branded as HBO Originals, rather than MAX.
