We are really sad about this news. One of the last few historic studios actually located in the heart of Los Angeles will soon be hitting the market. The Chaplin Studios complex, which was purchased by The Jim Henson Company in 1999, is going up for sale.
The reason given for the sale is “as part of a much longer-term strategy to have The Jim Henson Company and our renowned Burbank-based Jim Henson’s Creature Shop under one roof, which is not feasible in Hollywood due to the space the Shop requires.” The Creature Shop resides in Burbank, which isn’t exactly next door to the current La Brea Henson Studios location.
The company does intend to stay as a tenant in the current space as long as “is feasible.” No word on exactly when the complex will hit the market, or in what price range. We just really hope Kermit dressed as classic Charlie Chaplin character The Tramp will make the move as well.

If you get the chance, we HIGHLY suggest getting tickets for and attending Puppet Up!, the adult-themed Puppet show held at the historic theater. It’s so much fun! And, if you’re really feeling it- splurge for the higher priced ticket (with the tour of Brian and Lisa Henson’s offices).
