Marvel at Displate’s New X-Men Textra!

When I was growing up one of the biggest influences on my art style was Jim Lee‘s X-Men comics. I loved going and grabbing the newest issue at my local Comic Quest. They always popped for me off the pages of the books. Now, Displate has an even cooler way to stare at that wonderful artwork. They’ve come out with a two set collection of a famous X-Men comic cover/insert poster that used to be included in some books. In fact the image we’re talking about is from about the same time that they were also featured in a Pizza Hut collab WAY back in the 90s. That makes if fell about a hundred times more nostalgic!

The design features a mixture of the X-Men blue team and some of the X-Men gold team, along with Magneto. In the 1990s the X-Men were scattered and had to create teams to work together. Blue team was under the leadership of Cyclops and brought together Wolverine, Beast, Psylocke, Rogue and Gambit with Jubilee joining a little later. Gold team members include Storm, Jean Grey, Colossus and Archangel.

What makes this Displate Textra set so great is that you can hang them either separate or have them side by side. Putting them side by side recreates the cover and fold out of X-Men issue #1. Something that’s really nice about these posters is that you can put them absolutely anywhere without putting holes in the wall. The posters are magnetic and come with a piece of masking tape to put on the wall. After applying the masking tape you put the magnet on top, then pop up the poster. The posters are easy to take down and reposition as long as you have the magnet somewhere behind it. If you ever get sick of a design, they’re easily switched out with new ones. That’s probably my favorite part about these posters besides the fact that they’re the most renter friendly art deco out there.

Along with these two posters which are available in Gloss, Matte or their newest and most impressive Textra, Displate also has tons of other X-Men designs. Some of my personal favorites are ones that were taken from the collectable cards in the 90s. X-Men cards were something I coveted and collected when I was young and I still have a lot of them. Problem is they’re small! Not very good to decorate with if you know what I mean. I may end up getting some of these just so I can stare at them on the wall.
