Disney Releases Teaser Trailer for “Moana 2”

Walt Disney Studios has released the first teaser for the upcoming film “Moana 2.” The original film’s two stars Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson return as Moana and Maui. This particular film had originally been developed as an animated series for Disney+, but the House of Mouse changed course- opting instead for a theatrically released feature film.

“Moana 2” reunites Moana and Maui three years later for an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller direct. Lin-Manuel Miranda is not handling the music this time, but Grammy® winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foaʻi, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina are.

We *are* still getting a live-action “Moana” adaptation, which Thomas Kail (“Hamilton“) will direct. Original “Moana” screenwriter Jared Bush is writing this version, along with Dana Ledoux Miller. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will again play Maui, but no word on any additional cast yet.

“Moana 2” is set to hit theaters November 27th, 2024. You can check out the teaser now:

Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
