Tips For Effective Weight Lifting Workouts With Home Equipment

Well it’s been decided, I never want to go back to a gym again. Being able to workout in the comfort of my own home when I want has been so wonderful. I started small with some dumbbells and instructional videos, then continued to add pieces.

Recently I bought some weight lifting equipment for my personal gym. It’s been a game changer. There are things I’ve found that you need to be doing in order to have a really successful workout. If you add these into your workout practice you’re sure to see a difference.

3 Tips for the Most Efficient Workout at Home with Weight Lifting Equipment

These tips may seem simple, but they really make the foundation to a good, solid routine. When you make sure you hit all of these elements, you give your body what it needs to power through.

    1) Refuel Your Body: Water, Electrolytes, and Good Food

“Busy schedule” people can often overlook this one, but you shouldn’t. When you workout you’re asking a lot of your body. If you don’t give back to it, you’re walking a dangerous tightrope. There are certain elements you need to put into your body to be able to perform well.

Water and electrolytes are needed to keep your body hydrated. I personally like to use celtic salt, magnesium, and bananas to give me electrolytes. Spring water is my preference because it’s not tap and not full of weird stuff. You also want to make sure you’re eating whole ingredient foods to give as much nourishment as you can.

    2) Take the Time to Learn How to Protect Yourself While Working Out

Wow, this one is really important. I’ve had friends hurt themselves to the point of needing surgery because they weren’t doing what they needed to be. If you’re using weight lifting equipment you probably want to get a weight belt to protect your back. Pro lifters use flat shoes to give themselves a sturdy platform. There are also things like gloves and heart rate monitors that will elevate your time even further.

    3) Watch Videos on New Exercises So You Can See Proper Form

This step is easy to skip, but I highly recommend doing it. Anytime you’re learning something new, your body hasn’t had time to remember where to position itself. By watching some other people perform the exercise you’re wanting to do, you can see where your body needs to be.

You can even set up a tv in the area of your home gym. Put up the “how-to” videos while you’re working out so you can remember the techniques you’re trying to learn.

Education and Fuel Create a Solid Foundation

Adding to your personal gym with things like weight lifting equipment is such a fun experience. However, if you want to get the most out of the stuff in your personal gym, learning where you can is extremely helpful. As you can see, you also need to refuel your body and keep it protected. Do these tips and you’ll see improvement in your routine.
