Discover the Ultimate Cleaning Guide for Your 2nd Gen AirPods!

Apple released the 2nd Gen AirPods in March 2019. They have high-quality features that offer a great listening experience to their users. The batteries last up to five hours and more with their charging case offering additional charges. Although the 2nd Gen Airpods are for listening functions only, they need to be kept clean at all times to make them last a long period.

This is because of the earwax, dust, and moisture accumulation after repeated use. Therefore with regular maintenance from a well-reputed service like Hygadget, your 2nd Gen Airpods can become durable and look brand new for a long period. This comprehensive guide will shed light on how to clean your 2nd Gen Airpods and keep them working for a long period.

Tools You Will Need to Clean Your 2nd Gen Airpods

When cleaning your 2nd Gen Airpods, there are some essential tools you need to effectively get the best results.

    • Hybuds Pen: The Hybuds pen is designed for Airpods Pro although it can still be used to clean the 2nd Gen Airpods. The tool features a retractable design with a metal tip for reaching the crevices. It also has a high-density brush used for cleaning the dust on the meshes and a flocking sponge tip for cleaning the charging case.
    • Soft cloths: A soft cloth ensures protection of the inner and outer parts of the AirPods. Make sure the cloth is dry or slightly wet for a better cleaning experience. A wet cloth can make moisture or water enter the openings of the airpods which could damage the speakers disrupting the listening.
    • Cotton swabs: The cotton can help with providing a smooth cleaning experience for the speaker meshes of your AirPods. One can use it dry or slightly damp to remove the hard residues.

Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide for 2nd Gen AirPods

Here are some steps to help keep your 2nd Gen Airpods clean.

    1. Cleaning the Exterior

Start the cleaning process by addressing the exterior of each AirPod. Make sure to use a soft cloth and cleaning solution to remove the dust and earwax from the airpod. This initial wipe helps prevent any existing dirt from entering the openings during further cleaning.

Use a slightly wet cloth with isopropyl alcohol to clean the more stubborn stains. Make sure the cloth is not too wet as the moisture could enter the openings of the Airpods and damage their internal parts.

    Detailing the Speaker Mesh

The speaker meshes on your AirPods can trap fine particles and earwax, which might affect sound quality over time. To clean this delicate area, start with a dry cotton swab to gently brush around and over the meshes. This will dislodge loose debris without pushing it further into the mesh.

If you encounter more stubborn earwax or debris buildup, use a hybud pen to carefully remove the wax. The hybud pen has a high-density brush that can clean out dust and stubborn debris. It’s important to ensure that you do not push the debris inside the speaker mesh. Once you notice the speakers not working properly even after cleaning, ask for professional help to get a better solution for your AirPods.

    Cleaning the Microphone and Sensors

The microphone and sensors are the most sensitive parts of your 2nd Gen Airpods. The hybud pen offers a more effective cleaning experience for the microphone and sensors. They protect your AirPods against potential damage during cleaning. In case you do not have airpod cleaners, you can use cotton swabs that are dry or slightly damp. For those that might not have airpod cleaners, you can use cotton swabs or smooth cloth to clean them.

    Caring for the Charging Case

The charging case protects your AirPods when not in use. Therefore it is important to also keep them clean at all times. Unlike AirPods which are more delicate to handle, the charging case is easier to clean. One can use a dry or slightly wet cloth to clean the inner and outer parts of the charging case.

Make sure to keep it dry at all times because the moisture could enter the opening parts of the AirPods causing damage over time. Just in case there is tougher debris in the charging case, you can use airpod cleaners or toothpicks to gently remove the dirt.

    Conclusion

The 2nd Gen Airpods are Apple products that are famously known for their quality listening experience. Although they have high-quality features and technology, they still need to be cleaned and taken care of correctly to last a long period.

Many cleaning tools can be used to clean the AirPods. For example, the airpod cleaners are user-friendly and ensure effective cleaning of your gadget. One can also use cotton swaps or any other cleaning tools available to keep your AirPods working for a long period.
