Actor/rapper Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has a lot of irons in the fire with Amazon Prime’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith,” the long awaited “Community” movie, an upcoming anime, and the cartoon “Country Mouse, City Mouse.”

He even squeezed in a surprise appearance during Tyler, the Creator’s headlining set at Coachella last weekend. Now, Glover is adding not one but two new albums into the mix!

During an interview on Instagram Live with Gilga, Glover revealed the upcoming musical projects. The first album will be a ‘finished’ version of his fourth studio album, “Atavista.” This project was quietly released in March 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, so it wasn’t mixed or mastered.

    The Final Childish Gambino Album

The second project will also be his last Childish Gambino album. It will serve as the soundtrack to his upcoming film “Bando Storm and the New World.” Glover says he drew inspiration for the record from soundtracks like 1989’s “Batman” scored entirely by the late Prince. As well as the 1995 “Batman Forever” soundtrack that includes Seal’s mega-hit “Kiss From a Rose.”

“The project I put out, ‘3.15.20’ that no one’s ever heard of, people didn’t even know I put it out, it was originally titled ‘Atavista,’ it was supposed to be ‘Atavista,’” Glover explained. “But we put it out quickly, I didn’t master or mix it, I just kind of put it out. I was going through a lot, n—s thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic. We put it out, we finished it, it’s ‘Atavista,’ we’re putting that out. But then after that, there’s a Childish Gambino album, the final Childish Gambino album.”

We’ll keep you posted on updates about these albums and Glover’s other projects as they become available. You can check out the full interview below:
