If you grew up in the 90s, you probably remember one of the most popular cartoons offered up on Cartoon Network, “Space Ghost Coast to Coast.” Though it was meant to be a late night show for the platform and aired on adult swim, many kids and teens who stayed up too late really loved this show. It was one of the first big hits on the network that was of their own creation. Now for the 30th anniversary of the shows run (yikes, I guess that means we’re all getting old) they have a YouTube live stream playing the show in its entirety.

In his initial conception, Space Ghost was a high-flying superhero, battling against the forces of evil in the vast expanse of outer space. Then, in the 1990s, a bold reinvention of the character took place. Space Ghost was intriguingly resurrected and reintroduced, this time, not as a superhero but as a host of his very own late-night talk show. Taking on an entirely different guise, Space Ghost became the protagonist of the brilliantly innovative and quirky fictional talk show, “Space Ghost Coast to Coast.”
Space Ghost is voiced by the talented George Lowe, whose unique tonal delivery significantly contributed to the character’s identity. Another interesting feature of the show was its creative use of animation. Rather than developing entirely new frames, the show reused animation cels from the Hanna-Barbera archives.
