Yes, there’s been a lot of discourse this year about actor Bill Skarsgård. Mostly surrounding his starring role as Eric Draven in the upcoming reboot of “The Crow.” And, to be fair, most of that has been about the frankly baffling character design. NOT, as some of our Facebook commenters would have you believe, about Skarsgård’s abilities as an actor or him personally. [Editor’s note: I actually interviewed Bill YEARS ago for Netflix’s very first original series, “Hemlock Grove.” He was, and still is, an absolute delight, and I have no problem with him at all.]
Okay, what we REALLY want to tell you about is the red band trailer for a little film called “Boy Kills World.”

“Boy Kills World” is from director Moritz Mohr, and executive producers like oh, say, Sam Raimi.
Skarsgård stars as “Boy” who vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Famke Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and blood-letting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.

The film also stars Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey“), Brett Gelman (“Stranger Things“),
Isaiah Mustafa, Andrew Koji, and Sharlto Copley, with narration by H. Jon Benjamin (“Archer“).
“Boy Kills World” hits theaters April 26th, 2024. Check out the trailer now:
