Sting Said Austin Butler Could Borrow THAT “Dune” Feyd Costume

Dreams really do come true, especially for fans of Frank Herbert‘s seminal piece of science fiction, “Dune.” Theres just so much of it to experience! Books! Movies! Miniseries! Comics! While I don’t love either of SYFY miniseries, I *am* a lover of David Lynch‘s 1984 version. More minimally of Denis Villeneuve’s recent “Dune Part One” and “Dune Part Two.” That’s not to say I outright DISLIKE them, but, there is more for me personally in the 1984 flick.

Including but not limited to that bitchin’ Toto guitar riff, the Atreides battle pug, and that magical scene of Sting as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen revealing his crotchwings. Which brings us to the reveal I’ve always wanted to know- where that particular costume ended up.

Turns out, with Sting! Not only is it in his possession, but, he apparently offered it to nuFeyd, Oscar nominee Austin Butler!

Butler stopped by “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” earlier this month, while promoting “Dune: Part Two.” As a matter of fact, the New York premiere of the film had just happened, where the two Harkonnens had finally met.

“Sting obviously played the part in David Lynch’s,” Butler said. “I met him last night, he came to the premiere, it was so surreal, my mind was blown. He’s the best, he’s so cool. He came up to me afterward and he was so lovely and debonair. I asked him about it, and he said he still has the codpiece from the original one. He said he’s gonna dry clean it and let me wear it if I want to.”

So…excuse us for dreaming about when that happens. You can catch “Dune: Part Two” in theaters now.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
