Mere hours after the jury met to decide the fate of “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, a verdict has been announced.
Reed has been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who lost her life in the on-set shooting that took place October 21st, 2021. Reed was acquitted of a separate charge of tampering with evidence. Jurors had to agree Gutierrez Reed acted with “willful disregard for the safety of others” and that the death was a “foreseeable” consequence of her actions.
Reed will be sentenced sometime in April. She faces up to 18 months in prison.
Alec Baldwin will stand trial for manslaughter in July. He previously pled not guilty to the charges.
