Issa López Returning with “True Detective” Season 5

We are absolutely delighted to share the news that Issa López will return to HBO with a 5th season of “True Detective.” Season 4, which starred Oscar winner Jodie Foster, Kali Reis, Fiona Shaw, John Hawkes, and Christopher Eccleston, just aired its finale last week.

This season was not without some unfounded controversy, as Nic Pizzolatto decided to complain about the production, loudly and publicly, pretty much from the get-go. Pizzolatto is credited as ‘series creator’ for “True Detective,” having developed the first highly-praised season for HBO. (But even that is up for debate, as claims of plagiarism for that season which starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey continue to swirl.)

Reis responded to Pizzolatto’s criticism on Twitter.

🙄😐 That’s a damn shame…but hey I guess “if you don’t have anything good to share, shit on others” is the new wave 🤷🏽‍♀️ lol https://t.co/4EOvu0oPSu

Anyhow. Congrats to López for a stunning season, and for her new overall deal with HBO. We cannot wait to see what she comes up with for season 5. You can catch “True Detective” seasons 1-4 on HBO, MAX, and Hulu now.

    HERE WE GO!
So proud of our Night Country.
So excited for the new adventure.
    So thankful.

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
