Ah yes, one of those late 80s early 90s films we were not expecting a remake of anytime soon. No, it’s not another tackle of “Dirty Dancing” (although that is still in development somewhere). And no, not Chad Stahelski‘s long-gestating “Highlander” reboot (which we’re actually REALLY looking forward to). Instead, it’s Doug Liman‘s (“Live Die Repeat/Edge of Tomorrow“) “Road House,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Connor McGreggor.
This morning, Prime Video released a trailer for the film, which has been in the news a lot lately. “Road House” is getting a premiere at SXSW, which is a big deal. But, it’s also skipping a traditional theatrical release, and headed straight to streaming on March 21st.
Liman claims Amazon MGM Studios did not fulfill their side of the bargain in this, and is boycotting the March 8th festival-opening premiere. He also says “Road House” is probably the best work of his career.
