Since the advent of film, there have been several creative ways of scoring and adding sound effects to them. From live orchestras to Wurlitzers, music and cinema have always gone hand and hand. Now, the multimedia design collective, EDGLRD, will be launching a tour putting a modern spin on a live performance accompanying a film.
EDGLRD has announced that they will be launching a tour in support of Harmony Korine‘s film “Aggro Dr1ft.” The movie recently debuted at the Venice Film Festival and centers on a Miami Beach hitman as he relentlessly pursues his next target. Starring Joshua Tilley, Devon James, Jordi Mollà, and Travis Scott. The entire project is shot through an infrared lens, creating a truly unique cinematic experience.
“The distribution of ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ goes beyond the limitations of the outdated moviegoing experience,” said Eric Kohn, EDGLRD’s head of film strategy and development, in a statement. “You don’t just watch ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ — you step into a new world, and these events will allow audiences to immerse themselves in it.”
EDGLRD’s new tour will have them providing visuals with live DJ sets. It will open on February 7th at the Crazy Girls strip club in Los Angeles, California. With an additional showing the following day. From there they will bring “Aggro Dr1ft” to unconventional venues nationwide. Each show will consist of backdrops featuring the group’s creative visual designs. Each screening will also be accompanied by musical performances from Korine and the films’s composer Araabmuzik. More musical acts will be announced at a later date.
Tickets will be available on DICE. We’ll keep you posted on updates about EDGLRD’s tour and Korine’s “Aggro Dr1ft” as they become available.
