We should all be so lucky to have the same drive and opportunities at 91 that this particular person does. Granted, his talent is kind of without equal, so…that already is something to envy. We’re speaking of course of the Maestro of the Movies, the one and only John Williams.
As you’ll recall back in June of 2022, Williams revealed “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” would likely be his farewell. Now, this isn’t the first time he’d said that regarding his incredible career composing the most iconic film scores in history. But it was certainly likely. Especially with “Indy 5” also being the farewell of series star and icon himself, Harrison Ford.
But now Williams is walking that back. “I don’t care much for grand pronunciamentos, statements that are firm and finished and surrounded by closed doors. If I made one without putting it in context then I withdraw it.”
He followed THAT up by saying perhaps if the right thing came along…he wouldn’t say no.
“If a film came along that I was greatly interested in, with a schedule that I could cope with, then I wouldn’t want to rule anything out. Everything is possible,” Williams told The Times. “All is before us. Only our limitations are holding us back. Or, to put it more simply: I like to keep an open mind.”
We can only hope we haven’t heard the last of new music from the Maestro.
