If there’s one thing we really like round these parts, it’s well-done fanfilms. Our own sister company Nerdbot Productions has SEVERAL projects, that encompass multiple fandoms. But this one, which we have no connection to at all, captured our interest.

“Sands of Fate | A Star Wars Story” is a not-for-profit short film produced by Escape Velocity Content, LLC.. It follows the story of Tiro, an ex-imperial commando surviving as a recluse, disappearing within the backwater port of Anchorhead until the day he is challenged to resurrect the warrior within.

“It is a heartfelt testament to the love of the Star Wars universe that so many in our band of rebels have contributed their time and talents to yet another outlaw fan film,” veteran Hollywood special effects artist (and director of “Sands of Fate“) Tim Martin said.

It stars Nathan Bock as Tiro, Mair Mulroney as Akiva, Chris Bartlett as C19 & Boba Fett, and voice acting legend Steve Blum (“Cowboy Bebop“) as the voice of C19 & Boba Fett. Patrick Lundberg co-directs with Matin, from a screenplay by Ian Eskander, based on characters created by George Lucas. Producers include Alec Eskander, along with executive producers Alec Eskander, Martin, and associate producers Jay Ellison and Dan Bohman (Garagemahal Studio).

The 25-minute short “Sands of Fate: A Star Wars Story” hit YouTube on December 13th. Check it out now:

Mary Anne Butler (Mab) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
