Anya Taylor-Joy May Play Herald of Galactus in “Fantastic Four”

Ah yes, the Marvel Studios rumor du jour once again focuses on the upcoming “Fantastic Four” film. Long in the works, this highly anticipated reboot will finally see the First Family of Comics’ arrival in the MCU. Yes, we know, Reed Richards (John Krasinski) appeared in “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness,” but this will be everyone!

Apparently, everyone’s favorite Gelfling princess Anya Taylor-Joy is being eyed for a very important role in the film- that of the Herald of Galactus! You know, the Silver Surfer! Before you start getting angry about a gender-bent character for the sake of “wokeness” or whatever choice phrase you want to use, please remember that there IS a female Surfer by the name of Juno.

In the comics, she’s the daughter of Hercules, a character that has already been introduced in the MCU. (He was played by “Ted Lasso” star Bret Goldstein in the end credits scene in “Thor: Love and Thunder.”) Juno sacrifices herself to save the Andromeda Galaxy, and offers to become Galactus’ new herald. She becomes the new Silver Surfer, and makes a vow to never allow Galactus to destroy another civilized world. That sounds like it would be a pretty great storyline for the film, actually.

Maybe Taylor-Joy, who we will be seeing soon in George Miller‘s “Mad Max: Fury Road” prequel film “Furiosa,” is actually being sought to play Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman. No real telling, but we think she’d make a fantastic Juno. Although we are kind of sad this means we’ll likely never see her as Illyana Rasputin / Magik again. She was PERFECT in “New Mutants.”

So far, Marvel Studios has NOT confirmed any casting for the film, despite numerous rather trusted sources confirming the likes of Pedro Pascal as a lead. Sure, he *could* be Mr. Fantastic, but he also could be an interesting Doom.

Matt Shakman is set to direct, and “Fantastic Four” has a current release date of May 2nd, 2025

With CCXP coming to Brazil next week, we expect some kind of movement with this and other big films. We’ll let you know what we hear about this and news.

She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), Bleeding Cool (where she was News Editor), and now Nerdbot as Editor-In-Chief. Over the past 10 years, she’s built a reputation at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always). Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence. Though she be but little, she is fierce.
