We wanna start by saying we don’t REALLY think there was anything nefarious at work in Joe Russo‘s recent post. Joe Russo is one half of the Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony), best known for “Community,” and a little thing called Marvel Studios’ box office shattering releases. So, you know, PROBABLY snark and comedy rather than anger and one-upmanship.

Decorated American director Martin Scorsese has not held back with his feelings re: superhero films. He’s acknowledged them as sort of snack food for the masses, but lacking true artistry and heart of what cinema is meant to be. This of course was poorly accepted by genre fans, and has continued to make headlines.
Scorsese’s daughter Francesca recently posted a video to TikTok of the filmmaker directing a very important figure while in his backyard- his dog, Oscar. Following this, Russo posted his own video to Instagram, where he directs HIS dog, who he refers to as ‘Box Office.’
The comments are rife with choice phrases, most continuing the whole superhero vs Scorsese debate. It’s kind of obvious this was just a tongue-in-cheek joke, but you be the judge.
Scorsese’s latest film “Killers of the Flower Moon” is currently in theaters now. Joe’s next project due out is “The Electric State” starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, which the Russo Brothers are co-directing.
