Discovering the Mechanics of Provably Fair Hi-Lo Games

Hi-Lo games are popular in the gaming industry, with both new players and veterans.  It is an extremely basic guessing card game.  The odd of scoring a win is fairly even.  They can be played at high stakes with a level 50/50 chance at a win.

Couple this with the provably fair play in online gambling, and you can be sure that you have even odds at a win.  At no point during the game will the system be able to be rigged.

    The Basics of Hi-Lo Games

Hi-Lo is a card game that can be played either online or in person.  The standard game is played with a deck of 52 cards.  The dealer presents one card, called the Snap.  Players are then afforded the opportunity to bet whether the next card will be either Lower, Higher or Tie to the Snap.  As soon as all bets are in, the dealer reveals the card and winnings are issued or losses collected.  This card issued will be the next Snap, and the game continues.

As can be determined, this is a simple game of chance, with the possibility of high payouts.  There usually is a specific betting limit set to this game.  This game is quite simple, but using a bit of tactics can add some strategy to your game.

For example, if a Snap card is 8 or higher, betting “Lo” will be the better route to follow.  With Snap cards of 7 or lower, betting “Hi” has a greater chance of a win.

The Need for Fairness in Online Games

Standard casino setups have been around for quite a few years.  Online casinos only started operating from the mid 90’s.  Understandably so, trust was a big concern, and it took a bit of time for these sites to gain popularity.

Accessible internet facilities were not so prevalent back in the day, and it was also a bit of a sensitive issue for people to trust their personal and banking information to the abyss of the online universe.

Online casinos took stock of this and started to implement relevant security measures.  SSL encryption software started to be incorporated into the sites and independent auditors verified the authenticity of gaming.

    What Does ‘Provably Fair’ Mean?

The security environment of online gaming is quite intricate.  The use of cryptographic methods helps to ensure the safety and security of these platforms.  Cryptographic algorithms ensure data security via encryption.  Only authorised users can access this information.

Code authentication is another security feature of cryptography.  Users can be sure that any code run on the site has been authenticated.  A plus bonus of this software is that it speeds up transaction time between game servers and players.

Other safety measures such as SSL, TLS and AES further enhance online casino security, focussing on an end-to-end level of information encryption.  When it comes to the validity of gaming, systems such as RNG’s (Random Number Generators) help to ensure that all gameplay is random and not rigged.

Mechanics of Provably Fair in Hi-Lo Games

Provably fair hi lo game, specifically for online play, use a specific algorithm during game play.  A server seed is created by the gambling site.  The client seed is generated by the browser of the player.  These are random strings of numbers who, combined, predict the outcome of a game.  Players can verify these results to ensure that the results were in fact, random.

To verify this, the following can be done:

    ·   A player needs to renew the client seed by clicking on the relevant icon.

    ·   Now select the bet that needs to be verified, choosing from the betting history.

    ·   Convert the 8 first characters in the string, in pairs, from hexadecimal to decimal numbers.

    ·   Add the numbers together and multiply by 52.

    ·   Your answer should correspond to the card that was drawn.

    Benefits of Provably Fair Systems

With the aim of enhancing trust and transparency, Provable Fair Play Casinos have laid the groundwork.

The use of cryptographic algorithms allows for random number generation in game play.  This ensures that there is no way to rig a game.  Players can verify cards drawn with the use of a cryptographic hash function.

All these systems help to build the level of trust between a player and the online casino site.  A secondary consequence thereof being an increase in the number of players as word will spread about the reliability of the site.

    A Comparative Look

The simplicity behind a Hi-lo game makes it appealing.  Its up to the player to take a bet and then guess whether the card drawn will be higher, lower or tie to the Snap Card.  Not very complicated indeed.

Online hi-lo games fall under the provable fair games.  Using the cryptographic algorithms, players can verify game results, ensuring absolute transparency and unbiased results.

As an ideal game for a beginner, the above functionality will help to provide a certain level of trust between the casino site and the player.

    Conclusion

Player interaction on online gambling site is essential.  It is advisable to do your fair bit of homework to ensure that provable fair play and / or other reliable gaming sites are utilised.

This is an enjoyable “sport” and it would be detrimental if your future game play is at stake to one bad decision with regards to a gaming site chosen.  Online gambling sites do their utmost to ensure trust and transparency.  Take heed to utilise these resources.
