A Few Things Related to Septic Tank Excavation One Should Know

New septic system installation on the property requires proper excavation, considering factors like soil quality, vegetation, gravity, and water level. It starts with the digging ground for the drain field and septic tank. The hole should accommodate the whole septic system, which can be around 4.5 feet broad, 6 feet high, and 8 feet long. On average, the drain field can be 375-500 sq. ft. in size. As for the depth, one needs to check the soil’s makeup. A lot of things can also affect your installation cost too. Typically, this costs more than USD 7,000. But it can increase based on home size, tank type (conventional, drip distribution, anaerobic, recirculating sand filter, chamber, mound, etc.), tank size & material, and labor charges.

It is an expensive process that demands precision and attention to detail. Bruce Johnson Construction is a trusted excavation contractor in Oregon. Feel free to contact someone like them for assistance with this project to save money, time, effort, and headaches. An expert contractor will come to the site and do the following things to ensure the new septic system is well established:

    • Site Analysis

You may want a new septic tank because the older one is no longer functional or requires heavy repair investment. Nevertheless, if replacement is the only option, you can ask your excavation contractor to visit your site and assess it for digging and grading. They will also investigate the older tank system, utility lines, and other things to understand if any obstacle can disrupt the work progress.

    • Soil Quality

The success of this installation work greatly depends on the soil type. Excavators must test the soil’s drainage capacity to ascertain how the site would fare with waste removal.

    • Gravity

Another essential component, like gravity, helps waste pass through the network of home pipes to land in the tank. Tank’s depth can affect the efficiency of gravity in moving household waste. Pipes need an adequate slope to drain the rejected matter into the tank. At the same time, the drain field should be lower than the tank.

    • Digging

Finally, the stage of placing the septic system in the ground comes. The tank should have enough depth to complete the entire drainage process smoothly.

    A few more points

When planning for septic tank excavation, it’s beneficial to explore additional resources to understand the complexities and requirements involved. Accessing detailed guides and professional insights can help ensure a smoother process and better results.

Hiring the right contractor is a must to avoid any unseen challenges. As such, this type of installation can suffer from different situations, such as water oozing from the high water table, too many rocks in the ground, etc. A knowledgeable professional will consider all the factors and have solutions to address different concerns. For instance, they can adopt the method of well pointing to prevent the issue of water seepage. It entails clearing out water from the hole to continue the excavation process. They use suitable pumps to tackle the excess water and oozing issues.

These complex works require using the right equipment for land digging. Whether you have moved to a new home or wish to replace an old septic tank, you will want experts to manage it. Once they do the needful, you can use this system hassle-free. However, please ensure that you maintain them well.
