Chris Pine’s “Wish” Character Revealed in New Teaser

Walt Disney Animation has released a teaser for their upcoming animated film, “Wish.” It shows more of Chris Pine‘s character, King Magnifico.

Pine’s King Magnifico is set to grant wishes for the people of the Kingdom of Rosas. However, he has some seriously sinister plans. This causes main character Asha (Ariana DeBose) to join forces with a wishing star to save the kingdom. This journey will see her accompanied by her suddenly talking animal sidekick, Valentino (Alan Tudyk). The film is adapting to the 2D/3D hybrid animation style like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.”

After several films depicting abstract concepts, like breaking generational curses, it is refreshing to have an actual set villain. King Magnifico has the potential to be a great villain like Scar, or Jafar. He’s already got the evil stare and sinister laugh down. Just give him a catchy song about his evil deeds and some snappy one-liners, and he’ll be a Grade A Disney villain.

Disney’s animated films haven’t done all that well in a post-pandemic world, but it seems like “Wish” is trying to change that. Personally I think the problem is that films like “Strange World” and “Elemental” did not get properly advertised. This film looks like it is taking Disney back to it’s roots, along with providing a new “original” tale.

“Wish” is set to be exclusively in theaters November 22nd, 2023, for the Thanksgiving weekend. Catch the previous teaser trailer here.
